FAQs

  • You will know therapy is working when you start to feel less stressed, lighter during your day, or finding joy in your life again. Another way to know that therapy is working is when you come to session and don't have anything to talk about besides how life is good!

  • My availability for therapy is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. My earliest time slot available is 9am and my latest time slot is 4pm. I do not provide therapy on the weekends or on Tuesdays.

  • The best way to schedule your first appointment is by giving me a call and starting with a 15 minute consultation. There we will review what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to receive help with, answer any questions you have about me, my therapy process or how therapy works. If you agree to starting the therapy process with me, we will then pick a day and time that you will attend therapy once a week. This is your permanent time slot, so no need to schedule a new session each week. Even better, my HIPPA compliant office management system, Simplepractice, will send you a text or email each week reminding you about your future appointment with me.

  • After every session together, I will write a note about our session. The note will talk about what were our goals for the session, what interventions did I perform, and what your response was to the interventions and conversations we had. I will include some things you said during the session, if I find them to be significant and I want to remember what you said. Otherwise, my notes will be a general outline of what types of themes and topics we discussed that day. My notes are kept locked and confidential in a HIPPA secure platform, Simplepractice. The laws protecting your confidentiality give me, the therapist, the right to refuse to give your notes to ANYONE. Some exceptions are:

You give me permission/request me to release your notes to another health provider for treatment purposes.

If I receive a court order signed by a Judge (not a subpoena signed by an attorney) that specifically request psychotherapy notes.

  • Everything we talk about in therapy will be confidential, but there are a few exceptions to that. These exceptions will be outlined in the paperwork you sign before attending your first session, and will be verbally reviewed by me on our first session to make sure you understand what those exceptions are. Therapy is not mandatory, you have the right to choose if therapy is the best option for you. We go over all the details about the therapy process on the first day to make sure you are comfortable agreeing to start the therapy process.

  • That's okay! This is your time and your process. You can go as fast or as slow as you want. Keep in mind, my ability to be helpful is limited at the amount of information I know. The best way to achieve success in reaching your goals is providing me as much detail as possible, so we can have all the pieces to the puzzle. But, no pressure to do it right away!

  • Absolutely not. You will often hear me say, "the process is the process" and sometimes a part of the process towards meeting your goals is to digest it. To properly digest big things, sometimes we need to chew on it for awhile.
